FAQ

How strong is a Cherry Fizz?

A typical serve (40ml gin at 40% ABV, 20ml cherry liqueur, citrus, and soda) comes to about 1.6 alcohol units, lighter than short sippers like the Negroni.

How does it compare to other Fizzes?

The Cherry Fizz is fruitier than the gin-led Tom Collins and richer than a citrus-only Southside. If you enjoy berry notes in cocktails like the French Martini, this is a good pick.

Which other cherry cocktails are worth trying?

If you like the fruity lift of the Cherry Fizz, you might also enjoy the Cherry Martini, which is richer and boozier, or the French Martini, which uses Chambord for a raspberry–blackberry twist. For something tall and fizzy in the same family, the Tom Collins is the closest cousin.

When did the Fizz family of cocktails start?

Fizz cocktails date back to the late 19th century and were especially popular in America. The Cherry Fizz is one of many fruity riffs that became popular as bartenders experimented with liqueurs.
