Gibson cocktail
The Gibson cocktail is a mixed drink which is very similar to the famous Martini. The only difference being in the way it is served. The hallmark of Gibson cocktail is that it's garnished with a pickled onion instead of an olive.
There are a few versions as to the origin of Gibson cocktail. One of our favourite versions is that the drink was named after Charles Dana Gibson a well-known illustrator. One day the artist asked the bartender to improve his Dry Martini. So to add some freshness to the drink, the barman altered the spirit proportions and swapped the pickled olive for a pickled onion.
