The Blood and Sand cocktail blends together equal portions of Scotch whisky, cherry brandy, sweet vermouth and orange juice. It is believed that cherry brandy represents the "blood", while orange juice is the "sand".The cocktail was inspired by the film ‘Blood and Sand’ which was released in 1922. Later, in 1930, the recipe appeared in Harry Craddock's cocktail book and since then it has become a time-honoured classic.
