We have been asked what are the top ten cocktails with vodka – so we have put our heads together and compiled a list from our cocktail recipe collection.
This list is not official, nor is it terribly scientific, it is based on the popularity of the cocktail recipe on our website and mixed in with a bit of our personal judgement and (extensive!) experience.
What we can say for sure is that every one of these cocktails is worth trying (responsibly of course!).
So here is our roundup of the top ten cocktails with vodka.
10. The Porn Star Martini
The first entry in our top ten cocktails with vodka Porn Star Martini is actually my personal favourite cocktail – but it is quite strong – and although it tastes great is not something I can enjoy many of in a sitting. This cocktail is perfect for a romantic date, sipping it slowly on a warm summers day.
The Porn Star Martini is a delicious cocktail comprising; vanilla vodka, passion fruit puree and passion fruit liqueur mixed with vanilla sugar. It is typically served with a small glass or shot of champagne to the side (hence why I avoid multiples of this drink!).
9. Caipiroska
Caipiroska is very similar to another national drink of Brazil – Caipirinha. The only difference between these two cocktails is the latter uses Brazilian cachaça instead of vodka.
The Caipiroska is best enjoyed whilst sitting beside a beach or pool, its refreshing, but not too sweet like many of the other popular vodka cocktails can be.
8. Sea Breeze
The Sea Breeze is a popular cocktail and part of a collection of vodka and fruit juice drinks. It requires just three ingredients — vodka, cranberry, and grapefruit juice.
The Sea Breeze makes the list as the tart flavour of the grapefruit and cranberry work so well together. This is another drink best enjoyed by the pool or beach.
7. Screwdriver
The Screwdriver might be the easiest to make cocktail of them all. The Screwdriver cocktail is made by mixing orange juice and vodka.
There are many variations of this drink – and equally as many tales about its creation – but the Screwdriver cocktail is easy to make, easy to enjoy and that’s why it deserves its place on this list.
6. Moscow Mule
The Moscow Mule is a cocktail of American origin made of vodka, spicy ginger beer and lime juice.
The slogan of the Moscow Mule cocktail also promised that the cocktail will “knock the spirit out” of the one who drinks it, but its generally about the same alcohol content as most other popular cocktails.
5. Woo Woo
The Woo Woo cocktail is a strong fruity drink made with vodka, peach schnapps and cranberry juice – it’s very hard to go wrong with such a delicious array of alcohols mixed together, and although it’s very sweet – it is very tasty too.
The Woo Woo was created during the 1980s in the USA and was immediately popular – especially with the students. It’s bright-red colour and a silly name no doubt helps make the Woo Woo even more memorable.
You might feel silly ordering it, but you won’t feel silly enjoying a Woo Woo cocktail!
4. White Russian
The White Russian cocktail is an easy-drinking blend of vodka, coffee liqueur and cream which was popular during the glory days of 70’s disco.
Today (perhaps thanks to the cult movie The Big Lebowski) the White Russian has returned to its classic status and high popularity.
3. Bloody Mary
Widely consumed at brunches, and popular in evening bars. The Bloody Mary cocktail doesn’t sound like it should work as well as it does – but it certainly does taste great and has fans across the globe. The Bloody Mary is number 3 in our top ten cocktails with vodka.
The Bloody Mary is made from vodka and tomato juice blended together with some spices and condiments. The addition of Tobasco and Worcestershire sauce gives it an unusual flavour too.
2. Cosmopolitan
The Cosmopolitan (or Cosmo) is a cocktail made with vodka, triple sec, cranberry juice, and freshly squeezed lime juice.
Widely loved in cocktail bars across the world for its sweet, refreshing taste the Cosmopolitan is almost too easy to drink. The flavour has sweetness, tang and a bit of sourness and looks classy at almost any bar.
1. Vesper Martini
“Shaken not stirred”, the Vesper Martini has achieved eternal fame through the infamous hero – James Bond, and although not everyone will realise that the drink Bond orders is a Vesper Martini, the drink is still popular the world over.
The Vesper Martini is a strong cocktail combining 3 spirits; gin, vodka and Kina Lillet. The Vesper Martini was invented by a famous author Ian Fleming whose book infamous secret agent character James Bond named it after the double agent Vesper Lynd.
Although it tastes great, the cultural impact and popularity of this cocktail has shot it to the number 1 in our list of the top ten cocktails with vodka.
